Naive Jam is an electronic music composer whose inspiration is born at the crossroads of colossal urban worlds and the wonders of nature. His art is a sonic odyssey that transports the listener into parallel universes, where science fiction becomes the backdrop for each melody. The dynamics and contrasts of the city of Hong Kong, with its undulating hills, fuel his creativity and are reflected in his compositions.
Naive Jam’s musical universe is deeply rooted in the realms of techno and ambient, enriched with hues of acid techno and tribal rhythms. His artistic approach is founded on sound experimentation and improvisation, primarily utilizing sequencers and synthesizers, as well as music production software. This technological arsenal opens up a field of creativity where he freely explores the endless sonic possibilities. His music, a mirror of his personality, is an expression of freedom. His pseudonym, Naive Jam, is a vibrant tribute to naïve art and the improvisational music sessions that characterize his intuitive approach. In harmony with technology, he channels it to align with and amplify his musical vision, thus embodying his understanding of electronic music.
Influenced by artists such as Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, and the French Touch scene, he also draws from the tribal techno rhythms found during the rave parties of his youth. His influences extend to legends like Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground, Nirvana, and Sonic Youth. Although this does not directly translate into his sound, their philosophy and creative process permeate his approach to music.
He began with classical guitar at the age of 7, then explored rock and blues, which led him to join a rock band at 16. When the band dissolved, he discovered techno music and acquired his first machine, thus marking his entry into the world of electronic music. Three years of jazz piano lessons then deepened his understanding of structure, harmony, and musical theory.
He feels the need to reveal his music live to connect with the audience. He uses hardware instruments live, which allows him to bring an organic and tangible dimension to his performances.
Naive Jam’s compositions open to soundscapes that let the imagination soar. Beyond genres, he offers an intuitive, emotional musical experience. His journey, a constant exploration, resonates in performances that dialogue with listeners.
